Ideas for Oak class

English

  • Complete word searches, make their own word search
  • Get the children to write a story imagining that they are going on a journey on a train or plane
  • Get the children to read every day for at least 20 minutes, any book will do
  • Get the children to write instructions of how to make a pizza
  • Write a letter to a friend or family member
  • Write a poem about a sunny day

Maths

  • Use recipes to revise capacity and weight, how much of each ingredient do we need
  • Play snap and cards
  • Play board games
  • Use card to make a net of a 3D shape
  • Use directional language like left and right and direct child around garden and house, if you have a garden

Art

  • Design a postcard and sent this to a friend
  • Design a card for Easter
  • Use scrap paper to make a collage
  • Decorate a hard boiled egg

Music

  • Sing songs together
  • Listen to music and tell each other how it makes you feel
  • Dance to music  together

Design and Technology

  • Design their own recipe
  • Make junk models out of empty boxes
  • Use lego to make a model that moves
  • Design their own machine, that would make bread or something similar

Geography

  • Look at maps online an find different countries
  • Draw a map of Britain and map different places that you have visited

Ideas for Oak class

English

  • Imagine that you have gone to the beach, write about what you would do and see
  • Write instructions to make a cake of your choice
  • Write down words that describe different weather conditions such as a windy day

Maths

  • Sort animals by the habitat that they life in and draw a graph to show this
  • Use information gathered from family and friends by phone to make a graph of what people are doing each day

Art

  • Make a finger painted picture of sunflowers for your window
  • Design and make a sock puppet using an odd sock

Music

  • Sing songs together
  • Listen to music and tell each other how it makes you feel
  • Dance to music together
  • Use different objects in the house to make percussion instruments, for example pans as drums

Design and Technology

  • Design a small boat that would float
  • Design and make a simple kite
  • Design and make a cloud mobile

Geography

  • Use the internet or an atlas if you have one and find areas of the world that are deserts. Write down what it would be like to live in a desert

PE

  • See how many times you can run from one end of the garden to the other in a minute
  • Record how far you walk on your daily walk
  • See if you can develop a course with different activities around your garden

Science

  • Find out why you need to protect food from flies
  • Use either the internet or books, or phone a friend to find about the rain cycle, draw a diagram of it
  • Collect a selection of materials and find out which one is most water resistant

History

  • Learn about the history of a person that interests you
